This story is about a surprise party held by two daughters for their parents fortieth wedding anniversary The story begins on the day of the party and gradually introduces us to the family members who are a colourful lot with many lies and secrets between them The ending is indeed a surprise and not what you would expect I enjoyed this book and would be keen to read other stories by this author.

I hate secrets It s so disrespectful to the people who know nothing but affected by it.This is a story about two sisters who planning on surprise 40th wedding anniversary party for their parents, Jack and Rose soo Titanic. Instead of a traditional surprise party for the parents, it was the sisters, Suzie and Liz who got surprise of a lifetime, and not a good one.Their parents are the most selfish and irresponsible characters i have ever read so far They are hiding a very life changing facts I hate secrets It s so disrespectful to the people who know nothing but affected by it.This is a story about two sisters who planning on surprise 40th wedding anniversary party for their parents, Jack and Rose soo Titanic. Instead of a traditional surprise party for the parents, it was the sisters, Suzie and Liz who got surprise of a lifetime, and not a good one.Their parents are the most selfish and irresponsible characters i have ever read so far They are hiding a very life changing facts from their own children for almost THIRTY years and somehow between their lame apology excuse, everything goes smoothly just in one night view spoiler No i dont care that they have divorce since they love each other And no i don t care that jack remarried I freaking care because of the twins hide spoiler What kind of parents who methodically forget to view spoiler tell their children about their half sisters and ripped their opportunities to bond with them hide spoiler Are you freaking kidding me But RoseJack keeps defends their action by repeatedly saying they were so young and it was long time ago Yeah they were young, like in 20 years ago There are many many chance to tell their children in those years Jack obviously view spoiler not very fatherly hide spoiler Yes i know Tony s request, but view spoiler as a father he couldn t just give up He wasn t even try to up to date with news about his other children years after that And when they actually met at this party, there are no tearful reunion or a reaction on his side Cold man. After a few years and the wounds slowly heal, they could try contacting and reunite their children Not hiding it At least Janet tell Helen and Nina from the start So although they never met Suzie and Liz, they know they have sisters hide spoiler They parents basically lying for almost the sisters whole life and one of Suzie, the do gooder daughter s reaction is just nicely asking, But we re your family, your children Why didn t you tell us about. Hmm..maybe that s why i don t favour her.The only one who react normally is Liz, the somehow bitchy bossy daughter but i like the most since she is the only one who seems normal in the head , who s in complete shock, angry and seething with the secrets, although by the end she cease which is still too fast. The secrets are a form of betrayal from the parents to their children and a secret that big is not something that could forgiven in one night time frame I m so baffled with other characters to letting this go so easily, apart from Liz.This is the quotes from last pageswhich means by the end Rose still doesn t really see the error of her ways You really should have said something, Rose, you really should have Rose sighed testily Hindsight s all very well, Janet, but it s not helping me now, is it still think about HERSELF only, not the effect on her children..and other oneFoolish hissed Liz How can you say that Foolish You make it sound trivialyeah basically everyone except her think this is small matter CrazyIt wasn t like that at all Don t tell me you ve never done something foolish or something you ve regretted, Liz There are no fucking regret AT ALL Instead a clean sorry, she keep deflect and pointing back to others to justify her and Jack reason.and this. Liz sighed And so what we re saying is that if we hadn t had this party and if we hadn t tried to recreate your wedding reception, we d never have known about any of this Rose reddened I don t know I suppose we would have had to tell you eventually meaning they probably never will Liz stared at her EventuallyFucking selfish the writing is not bad but Rose Jack pissing me off, so one star

Rose and Fleur are sisters opposites apart Literally in terms of location as Fleur is on the other side of the world in Australia having achieved, money and status but no man Fleur is across for her sisters surprise Ruby Wedding Anniversary Party and is doing her best to distract Rose, but she is being everything which is not in her character.Rose stayed at home when her sister made her life choice, she married Jack and had two children, and is about to celebrate her Ruby Wedding Anniversary Rose and Fleur are sisters opposites apart Literally in terms of location as Fleur is on the other side of the world in Australia having achieved, money and status but no man Fleur is across for her sisters surprise Ruby Wedding Anniversary Party and is doing her best to distract Rose, but she is being everything which is not in her character.Rose stayed at home when her sister made her life choice, she married Jack and had two children, and is about to celebrate her Ruby Wedding Anniversary, but seems somewhat reluctant do so Her and Jack do not want a fuss but their children, two sisters Suzie and Liz have other ideas.Liz is precious, she has everything she wants, a glittering national tv career, people pampering her without her having to life a finger and men at her beck and call Everyone knows her and she wants everyone to fawn over her But not her sister.Suzie, is everything Liz is not, down to earth, comfortable in her own skin, her clothes, her marriage, her two children two sisters and her home Her little hobby is turning into somethingand locally Suzie is known for her gardening prowess and organisational skills That is why this party is going to be perfect and everyone is helping even her daughters, Hannah and Megan.Hannah has other ideas, and thinks such a party is boring, but when her new friend Sadie pitches up with a couple of boys, things start to look up and the drink starts to go down Hannah escapes one family party and ends up on a rather different journey to a party where family does not exist.Megan is oh so wise for someone oh so young She can see everything and whilst she knows what her sister is up to, she does not tell tales but subtly is able to bring everyone together and helps Hannah see that family is quite important. That was the point of the party family When Rose and Jack turn up to be surprised it is their daughters who get the biggest surprise when they find out the reason behind their parents always avoiding celebratory anniversary parties The whole night is turned on its head lies, secrets and skeletons tumble onto the dance floor as the truth is learnt

Families who d have them The funny read takes place on the day of The Surprise Party and follows the preparations for the party and the entangled lives of many of the guests are revealed The party is not the only Surprise It quickly becomes apparent that this family has many secrets and coming together for a family do is not going to be smooth running As with any family there are relatives coming from far and wide, all with their own colourful character, charm and ways All the ingredien Families who d have them The funny read takes place on the day of The Surprise Party and follows the preparations for the party and the entangled lives of many of the guests are revealed The party is not the only Surprise It quickly becomes apparent that this family has many secrets and coming together for a family do is not going to be smooth running As with any family there are relatives coming from far and wide, all with their own colourful character, charm and ways All the ingredients for a get together of people who would usually avoid each other I could identify with this scenario of expecting a family gathering to just run itself without a hitch Don t think that has ever been achieved. For all the preparation and manouvering to ensure the event goes to plan, Suzie and Liz, sisters, who tolerate each other to host this party, just cannot achieve the impossible as the surprises just keep coming, right to the very end.I really enjoyed being a guest at this Surprise Party which had enough action to keep Suzie and Liz in the gossip coloumns for a month or two Great story, great characters, and would suit Chick lit, romance, and over 40 s chick lit fans.5 out of 5 for me Thank you to the publishers for sending me a copy of this book for review I did not receive any payment for my honest review This did not influence my review in any way
