Descartes is one of the few thinkers who really know how to cut the crap he gets right into it, so to speak Such concise works are a rarity in the midst of unnecessarily verbose musings of most other works As an examples, he expounds on this point in the rule III authors are ordinarily so disposed that whenever their heedless credulity has led them to a decision on some controverted opinion, they always try to bring us over to the same side, with the subtlest arguments if on the oth Descartes is one of the few thinkers who really know how to cut the crap he gets right into it, so to speak Such concise works are a rarity in the midst of unnecessarily verbose musings of most other works As an examples, he expounds on this point in the rule III authors are ordinarily so disposed that whenever their heedless credulity has led them to a decision on some controverted opinion, they always try to bring us over to the same side, with the subtlest arguments if on the other hand they have been fortunate enough to discover something certain and evident, they never set it forth without wrapping it up in all sorts of complications I suppose they are afraid that a simple account may lessen the importance they gain by the discovery or perhaps they begrudge us the plain truth All in all, however, these rules valuable only if they have never thought about them before or are simply not into readingrigorous books In the sense, it is a book that anyone can pick up and learn a thing or two

This was a very technical reading, much , I think, compared to the Discourse It was no doubt much harder to read in comparison as well Even though his arguments are coherent, there were many phrases and ideas that weren t clear I under what he wants us to do, but why sometimes get lost on me It s hard to read Descartes without being a skeptic myself Even though it may be less persuasive when reading it through a skeptic perspective, it definitely helps when thinking about it I recommen This was a very technical reading, much , I think, compared to the Discourse It was no doubt much harder to read in comparison as well Even though his arguments are coherent, there were many phrases and ideas that weren t clear I under what he wants us to do, but why sometimes get lost on me It s hard to read Descartes without being a skeptic myself Even though it may be less persuasive when reading it through a skeptic perspective, it definitely helps when thinking about it I recommend reading the Discourse on Method before reading this
