This is a huge book of almost 700 pages It contains 2 of Carol s books in 1 and is quite difficult to hold for any length of time because of the weight of it.But.If you can get past that then there is a real delight in store for you. Each chapter is filled with the most delicious descriptions They draw you carefully into Carol s life throughout the book and keep you wanting forI was always tempted to read just a fewpages.I had not realised that Carol s journey had been so diffic This is a huge book of almost 700 pages It contains 2 of Carol s books in 1 and is quite difficult to hold for any length of time because of the weight of it.But.If you can get past that then there is a real delight in store for you. Each chapter is filled with the most delicious descriptions They draw you carefully into Carol s life throughout the book and keep you wanting forI was always tempted to read just a fewpages.I had not realised that Carol s journey had been so difficult at times But the love of her husband carried her through during even the darkest of times. This book is enchanting in the way that it nurtures all of your senses With the delicious descriptions, the thought provoking conversations, and snippets of every day life in France it is one not to be missed.Carol had to gain the trust of the locals and she includes tales of how she did this throughout the book Buying and running their olive farm would not have been possible without their almost constant assistance and advice Carol s courage and determination afford her the ability to go into all sorts of places, often those which are traditionally male orientated too She was determined to overcome any language barriers and ensured that she attended courses to enable her to speak the language which endeared her to her neighbours and new friends. This book covers times of real tragedy for Carol and her husband It looks at how they coped and worked through any problems relating to these tragedies Honestly discussing when at times she felt totally overcome by grief, exhaustion or pain The bureaucracy and mountains of paperwork and meetings are also discussed Numerous hurdles had to be overcome to finally allow them to live their life on their farm in France This is the wonderful story of how they did that it all

This review is based on the second book featured in A Celebration of Olives for the reason that I had already read and reviewed the first book The Olive Farm last year The Olive Season is a continuation of where the author left off at the end of The Olive Farm, only this time due to a specific event the author bares all in terms of life challenges and emotional vulnerability Overall this book is less about the farm andabout the life of the author the luck bestowed mixed with the not s This review is based on the second book featured in A Celebration of Olives for the reason that I had already read and reviewed the first book The Olive Farm last year The Olive Season is a continuation of where the author left off at the end of The Olive Farm, only this time due to a specific event the author bares all in terms of life challenges and emotional vulnerability Overall this book is less about the farm andabout the life of the author the luck bestowed mixed with the not so fortunate It is a human journey to take with her through a way of life that many of us will not experience And good on her for sharing her darker hours
