    A heavy subject to make out of a children s book, but that was one of the reasons I felt like it was a good story The illustrations were beautiful I felt like the moments around the dinner table with Grandpa talking about Jesus were a little forced It seemed like that character switched from obsession with baseball to obsession for Jesus and they weren t allowed to coexist Even Grandpa talked like they shouldn t coexist That made it difficult for me as a reader to pin down what he was tryin A heavy subject to make out of a children s book, but that was one of the reasons I felt like it was a good story The illustrations were beautiful I felt like the moments around the dinner table with Grandpa talking about Jesus were a little forced It seemed like that character switched from obsession with baseball to obsession for Jesus and they weren t allowed to coexist Even Grandpa talked like they shouldn t coexist That made it difficult for me as a reader to pin down what he was trying to show his grandson I felt like Grandpa was almost throwing out the entire history upon which he d built his relationship with his grandson in order to drive home that Jesus trumps baseball A hard message to deliver But still done well
